Hi everyone! Welcome back to our channel! Today on Cooking Up Love we are making a basic scone recipe using just a few simple ingredients these scones are lightly sweetened and very tender and fluffy keep them plain or add your favorite dried fruit nuts or even chunks of chocolate to make delicious homemade buttery scones that are ready in about 30 minutes they're so easy to make at home and perfect for breakfast afternoon coffee sharing at brunches baby showers or just because take a look at our ingredients and i've also listed them in the entire recipe in the description box below begin by preheating your oven to 400 degrees measure out two and a quarter cups of all-purpose flour add a third of a cup of sugar one tablespoon of baking powder and the zest of worn lemon whisk this together with a fork whisk or pastry blender then grate in 11 tablespoons of cold butter and use a pastry blender or a fork or your fingers to cut in the butter until it looks like chunky sand leaving little lumps of butter in the mixture and that'll give our scones that amazing flaky texture this basic scone recipe is so flexible so you can add your favorite dried fruit nuts or chocolate today i'm adding a half cup of crystallized ginger and cutting it into a small dice next make a bit of a well in the middle of the mixture and pour in three quarters cup of heavy cream and two tablespoons of freshly squeezed lemon juice use a fork to stir the mixture just until it's moistened then add in your favorite mix in i'm using the crystallized ginger and mix to incorporate turn the dough onto a floured surface it'll be a little sticky use your hands to form the dough into a ball flatten and knead it for just a few turns until the dough is nice and smooth and if you're new to our channel we will show you how to make homemade food that's easy and delicious and perfect for sharing with everyone you love i'd love to have you join us every week when we share new recipes subscribe to find out when we've posted a new one next divide the dough in half and shape it into about a six inch circle that's about a half inch thick and cut it into six wedges using a knife or a pastry scraper and transfer each scone to a parchment-lined baking sheet the butter in my dough is starting to stick as it warms up dust the knife or scraper with flour to help with the sticking this recipe will make about 12 scones brush the tops with cream and a sprinkle of sugar then pop into the oven for about 12 minutes until golden brown on the bottom and here they are fresh from the oven i decided to add a light lemony glaze to the top these scones are tender buttery flaky and melt in your mouth delicious and they're so easy to make at home if you like this recipe consider sharing our channel with a friend and if you love to entertain check out our potluck favorites playlist alright i'll see you in the next video
