How to Cook Cauliflower Rice to Make Keto and Low Carb Meals



– Don't mind me, I am just enjoying one of my favorite ways to enjoy rice without the carbs Keep watching and I'll show you how

(fun music) So you've probably already heard about cauliflower rice It's a yummy way to enjoy traditional meals if you're on a low carb, grain free, keto or paleo lifestyle If you haven't heard of cauliflower rice or are unsure of how to cook it, stick around because we're about of find out the best ways to cook this miracle veggie First things first, we need the cauliflower rice I'm using a cauliflower that I've turned into rice like granules

It's not real rice This is rice and this is a head of cauliflower that I've turned into rice Basic I know but I thought that I'd get that out of the way because clearly these methods are not going to work with traditional rice You can make your own cauliflower rice a few different ways and I have a video that shows you precisely how to do that I'll make sure to link it right below this video and an info card as well

Of course you can use the pre-made bagged cauliflower rice That's totally fine You can find that in many grocery refrigerated cases and even in the freezer aisle Okay, on to cooking this So there are two ways to cook cauliflower rice, to steam it or saute it

Whichever method you use, cooking it makes this veggie taste even more like the regular rice and it will take on any flavor that you put into it Incredible, I know So let's first steam it You can place the cauliflower rice in a microwave safe bowl You're gonna cover it with plastic wrap or a damp paper towel and microwave it for about three minutes until tender

Of course if you put more than four cups, it might need a little longer This method works best if you plan to serve the rice immediately after you're cooking your meal Say you're grilling chicken or you just take out a sheet pan dinner from the oven and you need to cook your cauliflower rice fast before the meal gets cold The other option and personally my favorite is to saute it It adds a nutty flavor and creates the closest texture and flavor to regular rice

To do this, I'm gonna heat one tablespoon of oil in a large skillet over medium high heat I'm gonna add in the cauliflower rice, give it a stir, cover it and reduce the heat to low You're gonna remove the lid, give it a stir and let the moisture evaporate This is just plain but it gets better You can also add it to your stir fries like I do in my cauliflower fried rice recipe which of course I'm going to link for you in an info card and right below this video
