[Mauritian Cuisine] Sauteed Chayote Recipe | Sauté Chou Chou



Ingredients: 3 medium chayotes (cabbage) 1 onion (peeled and sliced) fresh thyme and parsley salt and oil 1 tablespoon ginger garlic paste 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 3 dried peppers cut the chayote's head and cut in half place the chayotes in the water scrub the inside with a knife peel the chayotes finely chop the chayote heat 1/3 cup of oil in a saucepan over medium heat add thyme, chopped onions and dry peppers skip 1 minute and add the cut chayotes add 1 tablespoon of salt and 1/2 teaspoon of bicarbonate 1 tablespoon of ginger paste and garlic 1/2 cup of water mix well, cover and sauté until the chayote is crisp (about 3 minutes) after 3 minutes, remove the lid and add fresh parsley leave on low heat until evaporation of the water (about 4 minutes)
