In the name of God, most Gracious, most Compassionate Peace and blessings upon you, dear viewers

Today, I am going to cook Tarka Daal I have taken 150g of Chana Daal, 75g of Moong Daal and 75g of Masoor (split) Daal I have mixed these daals and soaked them in warm water for about one hour Having soaked these in water for one hour, I will wash the daals further three times to get rid of starch Now put 8 glasses of water in a pan and transfer the daal into it

Now turn on your cooker onto medium heat and add 2 tsp of red chilli powder, 1½tsp of salt and ¼ tsp of turmeric powder When the daal starts to boil, turn the heat down to low This stops the daal overflowing out the pan This is a really simple recipe as during cooking only red chilli, salt and turmeric have been used as spices We will do the tarka after it is fully cooked

After cooking for about 20 minutes, the daal is in this shape It's not done yet and we will cook it some more 40 minutes have now passed since cooking started All the daals are now cooked well There is still excess water which we need to dry to make the daal a bit thicker in consistency

We have cooked the daal on low heat Although it takes a rather long time on this heat, the resulting dish is very tasty You will observe only the Chana daal is visible; the other two daals have turned into soup Now we will prepare Tarka for this daal For this, we need 1 medium onion sliced and ½ cup of oil in a frying pan

When the onions become golden brown, we add 1 tsp of whole zeera and ½ tsp of ajwain (Carom Seed) into the frying pan The tarka is now ready and will add this to the cooked daal Now, we mix it into the daal for a bit Afterwards, we will transfer the daal into a serving dish and garnish it with some fresh green coriander By the grace of God, our very tasty tarka daal is now ready to serve
